In no previous edition had all places been sold out six months before the event.
The organizers of Transvulcania adidas TERREX announced today that registration for the Ultramarathon category is now closed, after all places were filled in record time. The iconic challenge on La Palma, considered one of the most demanding and admired mountain races in the world, has proven that it has regained its appeal among both elite athletes and amateur runners.
The pace of registrations for the 16th edition is exceeding all expectations and confirms the growing interest in reliving the experience of running along the backbone of the island from Fuencaliente to Los Llanos de Aridane. Such a rapid fill-up shows the affection and loyalty that runners continue to have for the adidas TERREX Transvulcania.
In the coming days, a waiting list for the Ultramarathon category will be set up, which will join the existing waiting lists for the Marathon and Half Marathon categories. Please note that these waiting lists will begin to move forward, especially after December 31, which is the deadline for justifying qualifying races in the Ultramarathon and Marathon categories.
Miriam Perestelo, Minister of Economic Promotion and CEO of Sodepal, highlights the growing importance of this mountain competition worldwide, not only because of the exclusivity and beauty of its route, but also because of the quality of those who choose La Palma to compete.
“The Cabildo and Sodepal continue to work hard to ensure that, year after year, this event remains among the best internationally and that we continue to promote our island as the perfect place to bring together elite runners,” says the island’s Minister for Sports, Yurguen Hernández.
With the Ultramarathon, Marathon, and Half Marathon categories now full, the organizers remind participants that there are only spots left in the Joëlette and Vertical Climb categories, which still have fewer than 80 bibs available. These are expected to fill up soon, bringing the total number of spots to 3,000 and setting a new milestone for the race. The next edition of Transvulcania adidas TERREX is shaping up to be another one of the most popular and exciting editions in recent years, reaffirming its status as an international benchmark for trail running.
The Transvulcania adidas TERREX is organized by the Excmo. Cabildo Insular de La Palma through the public company SODEPAL, with the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Regional Ministry of Tourism and Promotur with its brand “Islas Canarias Latitud de Vida”, as well as the companies adidas, Hotel H10 Taburiente Playa, Hotel La Palma Princess, Hotel Meliá La Palma, Fred.
