12K Light, a new category designed for anyone who wants to get started in the world of trail running—and what better setting to do so than in a historic race like Transvulcania?
A loop course, with an initial stretch of wide, comfortable trail (PR LP-16) designed for runners’ enjoyment, leading to Llano de las Moscas (km 4), where the only liquid aid station is located. Once we leave the aid station behind, the ascent begins (SL EP-105), which for 3 km will take us through the San Juan lava fields and dense areas of Canary Island pine, culminating in spectacular views of the island’s eastern slope, at which point the race joins the ultra and half-marathon courses, descending along the (GR-131 Ruta de Los Volcanes) to the finish line at the El Pilar Refuge.
