Miriam Perestelo, the Councilor for Economic Development of the La Palma Island Council and CEO of Sodepal, highlights the collaboration with the El Fuerte barracks to accommodate 70 volunteer personnel who will be part of the operation from May 7 to 10.
The La Palma Island Council, in coordination with the Project Support Unit (UAPRO), is arranging accommodations for 70 personnel who will participate in the security operation for the 2026 Transvulcania adidas race, which will take place on the island from May 7 to 10.
Miriam Perestelo, the Regional Minister for Economic Development, highlights the support provided by the El Fuerte barracks, whose facilities will be able to accommodate Red Cross volunteers as well as members of the Civil Protection units from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Candelaria, and Granadilla.
Perestelo expressed his gratitude to all the members of these groups, highlighting their dedication, professionalism, and commitment—key factors in ensuring both the safety and organizational excellence of an internationally renowned event like Transvulcania.
The operation will also involve the deployment of 24 emergency and rescue vehicles, which will help ensure effective coverage along the entire route and throughout all scheduled activities.
For its part, the Projection Support Unit (UAPRO), based at the El Fuerte barracks, has facilitated the use of these facilities, ensuring the proper logistics for teams arriving from outside the island. This support is essential to ensuring the smooth running of the event and the safety of participants, organizers, and attendees.
