First of all, the president of the Cabildo Insular de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, who recognized that this fifteenth edition of Transvulcania adidas TERREX “brings together again the best runners of the moment, international, national and local” and assured that the race maintains “the essence that we tried to recover last year and that we have managed to reactivate” implementing a quota of “illusion” because of the 15th edition of a race with more than 3. 3,000 registered runners representing 50 nationalities, with 18 percent of those registered coming from outside Spain and 44 percent of runners from the Canary Islands within the national quota of participants.

“I hope you enjoy the race very much and that we feel proud that the vision of Transvulcania, associated with the island of La Palma, continues to be what it is and, above all, that this connection between the Palmeros and the race is and remains present at all times,” commented Sergio Rodriguez.

Robert Muecke, for his part, emphasized the “satisfaction” of Adidas TERREX for linking its name to a race like Transvulcania and that he hoped to be able to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the race together in five years”. Muecke admitted that “this is a very special race because there is no other race in the world where you can experience this atmosphere as soon as you arrive at the airport. I have been in many races and this atmosphere is not seen in other races, that way of involvement of all the popular runners, volunteers, people who are during the course, all make the athletes want to run this race at least once in their life”.

Pablo Villa, one of the most outstanding Spanish riders of the moment, admitted that he arrives at the event dreaming “of being on the top of the podium” in a race that means so much to him 11 years after his debut in the event. “Being here is always a luxury and I am in a good moment to try to win the race, it does not depend on me because there are many very good runners but what does depend on me is to be prepared to give my best, I come from a very hard camp of three weeks and I am looking forward to the day of the ultra and to enjoy again the atmosphere that is lived in La Palma,” said Villa, who thanked his reference, Luis Alberto Hernando, three-time winner of the ultra distance, everything he learned during this time as part of the Adidas TERREX team.
