Luis Alberto Hernando, Ida Nilsson and Dakota Jones take on the challenge of ‘Transvulcania Inversa’ in its second edition

For four days, elite athletes together with journalist Albert Jorquera will run the route of the island’s queen trail race in reverse. Luis Alberto Hernando, Spanish athlete and triple winner of the Transvulcania, Ida Nilsson, also a multiple winner of the race in Palma, and Dakota Jones, the first non-European to win the title of this emblematic race, who repeated his victory in 2023.

The President of the Cabildo, Sergio Rodríguez, understands that this second edition reaffirms the success of the initiative as an event that ‘consolidates its importance within the island’s sports calendar, offering a different look at one of the most important events on La Palma, the Transvulcania’. He believes that ‘with initiatives like this, we continue to make progress in the promotion of La Palma as a benchmark for sport in nature, strengthening our international projection and the link between sport and our environment’.

The Councillor for Sports Yurguen Hernández highlights that, after the first edition of the project, a commitment of the Cabildo to give ‘a twist to the Transvulcania experience, we have seen how other trail events around the world have wanted to join this pioneering initiative in the field of this sport, which is a source of pride because it means that we are on the right track’. For her part, the Councillor for Economic Promotion and Commerce and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, defends the international projection that this challenge means for La Palma, where the experience of people recognised in the world of sport on a course like Transvulcania stands out, something key to continue promoting the island in the field of sport and tourism.
