The race rewards the effort of the participants in a race fully integrated in the program of this fifteenth edition.
The commitment of Transvulcania adidas TERREX with the adapted sport is firm and was demonstrated this Saturday, on the big day of the race in Palma, with the celebration of the joelette race, a competition where participants put into practice the true values of sport.
Starting at the Mirador de El Time and finishing in Los Llanos de Aridane, the race took place with a much more benevolent weather than the rest of the modalities on Saturday and thus the participants could enjoy a race integrated this year in the Transvulcania adidas TERREX program thanks to an initiative of the organization and its commitment to accessibility and visualization of adapted sports.
With a profile not exempt of hardness the participants started the route with a vertiginous descent towards the Puerto de Tazacorte to then apply themselves in the ascent to Los Llanos where they made the entry in the mythical finish line of the palm tree race.
After a titanic effort by the participants, Carlos Neris Expósito was first at the finish line with a time of 1h.55:26 while Lorena Rodríguez Acosta (Atletas Sin Fronteras) was second (2h.00:13) and Isabel Elvira Armas Pérez (Pichón Trail Project) finished third (2h.04:20).
The Transvulcania adidas TERREX also included in the framework of its activities an exhibition of the sport support dog modality where Vanessa Hernandez and Enzo, accompanied by Cahui, were present.
“Transvulcania is a celebration of the human spirit, self-improvement and love for our island and that spirit must be inclusive, welcoming to all those who wish to live this unique experience,” said Sergio Rodriguez, president of the Cabildo Insular de La Palma.
The Transvulcania adidas TERREX is organised by the Cabildo Insular de La Palma through the public company SODEPAL, with the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Department of Tourism and Promotur with its brand ‘Islas Canarias Latitud de Vida’, as well as the companies 226ERS, Hotel H10 Taburiente Playa, Hotel La Palma Princess, Hotel Meliá La Palma, Fred.
