The adidas Transvulcania is also breaking records among younger participants

The event features the Kids Junior race, with more than 600 participants, offering a special day for the next generation of runners in the Isla Bonita race.

The adidas Transvulcania hosted one of its most heartwarming events of the year. The Transvulcania Kids Junior demonstrated that the young people of La Isla Bonita have a strong interest in mountain running, which is very much a part of their daily lives, and that the next generation of runners from La Palma who will compete in adult races is assured.

Many of these runners had already experienced the excitement that filled the air this past Friday afternoon in the incomparable setting of the El Pilar Refuge, where more than 600 boys and girls took part in another record-breaking day at the 2026 edition of the Transvulcania adidas. In fact, on this occasion, Transvulcania adidas “recruited” the largest number of young athletes for the Kids Junior category in the event’s history.

The look of excitement on their faces and their determination to do their best—regardless of the final result—were evident among the vast majority of people at the El Pilar Refuge, where family members and friends enjoyed watching the participants have a good time playing sports outdoors, taking full advantage of the unbeatable natural setting where everyone comes out a winner.

Transvulcania Kids Junior also featured inclusive sports, with participants completing the course in joelettes and, like everyone else, enjoying a unique and unforgettable day.

“It’s always exciting to see how the young people of La Palma enthusiastically enjoy an event like this Transvulcania Kids Junior, which instills the spirit of Transvulcania in the children,” said the president of the Island Council, Sergio Rodríguez, who noted that “since this year, even before the race began, we had already broken records for registrations and runners on the waiting list, and that the Vertical Kilometer also saw new all-time best times, these record numbers of participants in the Kids Junior demonstrate that Transvulcania has regained its significance and spirit among the people of La Palma.”

The adidas Transvulcania is organized by the Island Council of La Palma through the public company SODEPAL, with support from the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Department of Tourism and Promotur with its “Islas Canarias Latitud de Vida” brand, as well as adidas, Hotel H10 Taburiente Playa, Hotel La Palma Princess, Hotel Meliá La Palma, Fred. Olsen Express, Cicar, Spar La Palma, Coca-Cola, Libbys, Isola, and Nutrinovex.
