The palm tree quarry lives its great day in the incomparable setting of the Refugio de El Pilar.
The Transvulcania adidas TERREX maintains its roadmap with firmness towards the next generational relay among the runners of the big race with the purpose that someday those who are now a quarry in the future will be a multitude in the different competitive distances of the race of the Isla Bonita.
Nearly 600 young athletes gathered at the Refugio de El Pilar to take part in the Transvulcania Kids-Junior Spar La Palma, surrounded by their families and with an atmosphere very similar to the one that will be experienced this Saturday at the start of the ultra marathon, the start of the marathon and the finish of the half marathon of the Transvulcania adidas TERREX.
The quarry demonstrated that it is very present in the global idea of enjoying sports and healthy lifestyle habits through outdoor activity and that it is also perfectly instructed in the knowledge that caring for the natural environment is fundamental.
In this way, the participants in the Transvulcania Kids-Junior Spar La Palma showed in races with distances programmed according to the age range of the participants, that the message of the race has penetrated deep among them and that they are ready to be the next to make the leap among the big ones.
The president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, stressed that “it is very exciting to see how the seed of Transvulcania is transmitted to these generations that are now part of the Transvulcania Kids-Junior SPAR La Palma”.
Sergio Rodríguez pointed out that runners such as Moana Lilly Kehres or Yoel de Paz “who are now references for the younger ones” and emphasized the importance of the Island’s children “taking part in this event, thus promoting healthy lifestyle habits and values such as perseverance and effort”.
The Transvulcania adidas TERREX is organised by the Cabildo Insular de La Palma through the public company SODEPAL, with the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Department of Tourism and Promotur with its brand ‘Islas Canarias Latitud de Vida’, as well as the companies 226ERS, Hotel H10 Taburiente Playa, Hotel La Palma Princess, Hotel Meliá La Palma, Fred. Olsen Express, Cicar, Spar La Palma, Coca-Cola, Libbys and Isola.
