The Romanian runner gave a blow to the table last weekend by dominating the Transgrancanaria Classic from start to finish

The Transvulcania Organising Committee is continuing to work on the list of elites that will be on the starting line on 11 May. On this occasion, it confirms the participation in the ultra-marathon of the brand new winner of the Transgrancanaria Classic modality, the Romanian Raul Butaci.

This good result of the Romanian adds to those already achieved as the victory in the Val d’Aran CDH, the third place in the Ultra Skymarathon Madeira MSR, the fourth place in the Doi Inthanon 2023 – ELEPHANT 100 or a top 10 in the UTMB CCC.

This Transvulcania is becoming one of the most important trail events in the world. The recent confirmation of Butaci joins the already announced Germain Grainger, bronze medallist in UTMB, Dakota Jones, double winner of Transvulcania, Jonathan Albon, World champion, among other elite runners that the Organisation will continue to confirm in the coming weeks to form a historic line-up.

The president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, emphasises that the race continues to make progress in its return to consolidation as an international benchmark with the best runners on the international scene. “All of them have understood that the essence of Transvulcania is returning”, he said.

The registrations for the race continue at a good pace, and some of its modalities are already on their way to being fully booked, as the Ultramarathon, the Marathon and the Half Marathon are already at around 91% of average, and about to complete some of them, and the Vertical Kilometre, the shortest modality, at 36%.
