The opening ceremony, prior to the start of the activity of the runner’s fair where the first bib numbers were handed out yesterday, was emotional and the enthusiasm of the people of La Palma for this 2024 edition was reflected in the faces of the protagonists.
Sergio Rodríguez, president of the Cabildo Insular, said that he was very happy to be able to ‘recover the essence’ that established Transvulcania as one of the greatest trail running events in the world and to give it back to the people ‘by recovering the original routes that had been modified in previous years’.
‘We knew that it was very important for the Marathon, for example, to finish again in Tazacorte and to recover the same routes as before because it is fundamental for the economic dynamization and for the repercussion of the race and we also knew the importance of allowing people to follow the race from places where in recent years it was not possible to get to, so that everyone who wants to can participate because the aim is to bring our race back to our people’, pointed out Sergio Rodríguez.
