The best adidas Transvulcania ever also saw local runners step up to the plate, proving that, year after year, their level continues to rise and that several local athletes are now competing alongside the biggest international stars.<\/p>\n

At the record-breaking adidas Transvulcania, it was only fitting that athletes from the Isla Bonita would break a historic record, as Diego G\u00f3mez did in the Ultramarathon. G\u00f3mez, who crossed the finish line in Los Llanos de Aridane accompanied by his father in a truly moving scene, set a new record for a native of La Palma in the premier distance at 7:54:53, a spectacular time that will serve as a benchmark for future generations. <\/p>\n

Yonet Gonz\u00e1lez wasn’t far behind, crossing the finish line nearly two minutes later (7:56:42) and leaving Miguel Monterrey in third place (8:29:08).<\/p>\n

Ana Bego\u00f1a Gonz\u00e1lez took the win again in the women\u2019s race. The tireless Cupalma runner claimed the top spot on the podium with a time of 11:27:35, though she faced stiff competition from Paula Teresa Montes (11:33:52). Raquel Hern\u00e1ndez rounded out the podium after crossing the finish line in 12:51:25. <\/p>\n

Alejandro D\u00edaz put in a superb performance in the fastest marathon of all time. He was the top finisher from La Palma, clocking a time of 4:04:35, ahead of Kevin Gonz\u00e1lez (4:07:02) and Sergio Hern\u00e1ndez (4:46:25). <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Ana Bel\u00e9n P\u00e9rez (5:57:14) finished in under six hours to win the women\u2019s marathon, ahead of Luc\u00eda Rodr\u00edguez (5:59:08)\u2014who also broke the six-hour mark\u2014and Mar\u00eda Camacho (6:37:46).<\/p>\n

In the half marathon, the standout performer was Moana Lilly Kehres, who finished first among the female runners from La Palma and fourth overall (2:35:17), with Luc\u00eda Batista (3:29:16) in second place and Carlota L\u00f3pez (3:29:33) in third.<\/p>\n

Moana ran an outstanding race; among the local athletes, he was surpassed only by Aythami Brito (2:34:52), who finished first in the men\u2019s division. Meanwhile, Francisco Castilloa (2:38:47) and Ra\u00fal Rodr\u00edguez (2:40:44) rounded out the men\u2019s podium with times slower than Moana\u2019s. <\/p>\n

The Hilera runner also shone in Thursday\u2019s spectacular Vertical Kilometer, finishing fifth overall with a time of 58:35 after giving it her all against many of the world\u2019s top specialists in the sport today. Behind Moana were Idoia P\u00e9rez (1:16:45) and Jennifer Camacho (1:16:58). <\/p>\n

Aythami Brito was named the top runner from La Palma in the race with a time of 55:33, followed by Aleksandr Kirzhaev (58:31) and Mat\u00edas Huertas (59:41) in second and third place, respectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the best Transvulcania ever, local runners naturally took center stage\u2014a role that is by no means insignificant in terms of results and that demonstrates that, just like the race itself, they continue to improve,\u201d said Sergio Rodr\u00edguez, president of the La Palma Island Council, who added that \u201clocal athletes are achieving better and better times and are capable of competing with the world\u2019s top mountain runners.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Transvulcania Adidas Terrex is organized by the Island Council of La Palma through the public company SODEPAL, with the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Department of Tourism and Promotur with its \u201cIslas Canarias Latitud de Vida\u201d brand, as well as adidas, Hotel H10 Taburiente Playa, Hotel La Palma Princess, Hotel Meli\u00e1 La Palma, Fred.
